On May 25, 1973, Jason Nocito was born in Mineola, NY. He was raised by his single mother in suburban Long Island, but he traveled to Manhattan every other weekend to visit his father. His interest in photography started at the age of 13, when his older brother handed him down a camera. His interests were punk rock and skateboarding, and his first images were of bands and his friends hanging out at shows. Even then, he knew photography would play a huge roll in his life.
After graduating Mineola High School in 1991, Jason made the move from Long Island to Manhattan. He studied photography and painting at F.I.T, before transferring to Parsons School of Design. After graduating in 1996 with a degree in photography, Jason began playing music and documenting friends full-time, taking pictures whenever he had the opportunity. In order to eat, he worked as an assistant and printer. In 1999, he quit playing music and focused on photography full-time. He started shooting editorial portraits and small stories for magazines like Nylon and Jane.
Today, Jason shoots for advertising clients such as Nike, Apple, Canon, Diesel, Motorola, Sony, Converse, and Urban Outfitters. He shoots regular editorial work for The Fader, Rolling Stone, Nylon, ESPN, Wired, Fast Company and Teen Vogue.
Photography is Jason's driving force in life. He loves nothing more than being on set and consistently pushing himself creatively. He resides in NYC with his wife Megan and their French Bulldog pup.
