Spike Jonze teamed up with fashion designer Olympia Le Tan and French filmmaker
Simon Cahn to create this haunting stop motion animation. A Parisian bookshop is the setting for Mourir Aupres de Toi (To die by your side), the story of a felt skeleton whose love story takes place among Le-Tan's illustrations of iconic first-edition book covers. According to Nowness, the collaboration came about after Jonze asked Le Tan for some of her work, and she asked for a film in return. The team spent six months animating the 3,000 pieces of felt Le-Tan had cut by hand.
