9. Sensory Overload (Interacting with Autism Project)

Some people with autism have difficulty processing intense, multiple sensory experiences at once. This animation gives the viewer a glimpse into sensory overload, and how often our sensory experiences intertwine in everyday life.

Created as part of Mark Jonathan Harris' and Marhsa Kinder's "Interacting with Autism." Coming in January 1st 2013, IWA is a three-year transmedia project funded by the federal Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ). University Professor Marsha Kinder, the Executive Director of the Labyrinth Project at USC, and Mark Harris are heading a team of filmmakers and artists working to build an interactive, video intensive website that will focus on the best available treatments for autism.

Due to the horrifying amount of time it takes, stop motion animation is something of a dying art these days. Luckily, though, Kirsten Lepore is out there keeping it alive and keeping it real. I’ve been a huge fan of her work for a while now. If you enjoy animation, colors, laughter, or can at least appreciate someone spending thousands and thousands of sweat and tear filled hours to make something five to ten minutes long for an uncertain audience, then you might just be a fan too. 10. Dave Carter - How to Lose Weight in 60 Seconds

Take a quick break from work and watch this claymation piece from Australian animator Dave Carter. Entitled “How to Lose Weight in 60 Seconds”, the short vid is packed with quality animation full of gnarly expressions and even gnarlier action as a body-conscious protagonist makes his way through drastic weight loss measures. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I’m talking about VERY drastic measures, all depicted hilariously while Carter demonstrates the full breadth of his extensive talents. 9. Cloudy

We are so excited to present the short film "Cloudy", an art piece with the purpose to transcend its viewers to a relaxed and joyous state. It will be premiering on i am OTHER via Pharrell Williams’ brand new cultural movement, an entertainment based portal online. Read on to be transported to the clouds!

This short is an exploration into the Clouds. The idea of clouds singing and performing their duties in a joyful manner show us that everything in our world has a role and a purpose.
A sweet visual soundscape that takes the viewer through a personal journey into the sky. Sing, dance and relax as you follow a sweet cast of clouds and raindrops through an entrancing adventure you'll wish to take over and over again.

3. Natural Beauty by Lernert & Sander

Lernert & Sander wanted to apply 365 layers of makeup in one day to see how much is needed to go from a natural look to an outrageous one. 

The whole process took 9 nine hours, during which supermodel Hannelore Knuts couldn’t move and only eat and drink through a straw. We used seven bottles of Foundation S103; two bottles of Creamy Eyes E107; three Milky Lips L205 pens; and two bottles of Blush S301.

All together 228.40ml of makeup.

A story about a boy, his robot and the consequences of his anger at the disintegration of his parents marriage.
Alex is looking for the normal loving family life that he hasn't got - his parents are too busy fighting with each other to worry about the effect on him. Modern technology comes to the rescue in the form of Blinky, a robot designed to be a companion/assistant but ultimately becomes more a best friend and surrogate family member.

Not getting the love he is looking for from Blinky, Alex soon becomes bored with Blinky and starts treating him badly, making conflicting demands of him that ultimately result in a failure of his software. On reboot, only one demand remains intact.

Blinky was originally around to be Alex's best friend and obey his every desire - he should have been more careful of what he wished for. It came true.

I thought this movie as a visual and sound experiment guided by the rhythm which imposes the sound to the pictures.
Everything goes always faster quite as we change television channels.
The challenge was to create the rhythm with static shot.

Sounds recorded with a zoom H4N, and fostex Fr2-le + shoeps mk4.

1. Une Fille Comme Les Autres

Matthew Frost and Jalouse Magazine have created "Une Fille Comme Les Autres" a clever and hilarious spoof video which lays out the successful formula for the classic viral lookbook video and absolutely hits the nail on the head.

4. Taxi Driver Sweded by Michel Gondry

Michel Gondry is sweding it up again. The French auteur first popularized the sweding of things (see: Swede Fest) with his 2008 film, "Be Kind Rewind," which encouraged the audience to swede their favorite films. What on earth is sweding, you say? How many times can we possibly say swede before telling you what it is? (Six times.) To swede is to create a fan-made, low-budget rethinking of a popular film. It's all about showing your love for a movie you love for people who love it. It does not have to do with Swedish people.

Gondry sweded the trailer of his own film (self-love?), "Be Kind Rewind," back in 2008. This time, he tackles "Taxi Driver," assuming the role of Travis Bickle himself. Gondry's version includes a sweet (sounds like swede!) take on "Are you talkin' to me?", vomit that comes out looking like pastel paint and colored pencil bullets.
