10. Shotopop

DESCRIPTION:
Shotopop recently teamed up with JWT Shanghai to take cardboard cut-outs to the next level. The project won us an Outdoor, as well as a Design Lion at the International Cannes Lions Awards 2011.

We were asked to help develop and build 3 pieces, made up from the cardboard of ANTA shoe-boxes, to represent 3 prominent Chinese Basketball players, sponsored by ANTA.

The "Chinese Beast", Li Xiaoxu's playing style is fast, fearless and powerful. His sculpture, made up predominantly from elements of wings, feathers and lightning, shows exactly that.

With exceptional low post skills, Tang Zhengdong is an "Irremovable pillar in the sea", which indicates an ancient Chinese proverb for hero. The spiral staircase of courts represents his rise in the CBA, from the young age of 16

Zhou Peng has already won 6 CBA Championships, represented by the golden stars on his sculpture. His relentless defences and explosive ferocity makes him a force to be reckoned with.

1. Antonella Arismendi

This little lady from the mid eighties grew up with barbies, twin peaks and the ghosts of Pedro Raota, which adorn the hallways of her home to this very day.
Her influences converge in a magical fusion of technique, sensuality and mystique which have defined her artistic persona.
Captivating by nature, Antonella plans to blow up everything, at least that's what her natal chart says.

2. Daniel Kornrumpf

Daniel Kornrumpf is an American artist creating cool, amazing, hand-stitched portraits. Daniel Kornrumpf also is a painter and that is much influencing his embroidery technique. He is able to mimic paint brushstrokes with a needle and thread and lots of subtlety. Of course this unusual art is internationally reknown with many publications.

3. Chris Hornbecker

Chris’ photography has evolved through a series of challenging practices, one driving the other. From skateboarding, snowboarding and dj’ing, where he learned about timing, flexibility, and trusting his instincts, to sewing where he used his design and visual skills. They all have influenced one another and, ultimately, affected the way he shoots.

Chris is driven by the challenge of capturing his imagination in the frame, pulling out the honesty in every subject, and bringing what he sees in his head into a moment in real time.

5. Signe Vilstrup

Photographer Signe Vilstrup, born 1977.
I am currently based in CPH, Denmark, dividing my time primarily between Copenhagen, Paris and Milan.

6. Richard Wilkinson

After a Fine Art degree and brief career as an electronic musician, Richard worked in London as a sound designer which led to commercials production and then motion graphics. In 2006 he returned to his visual roots and as an illustrator has worked with The Telegraph, TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi and Harper Collins.

7. Sigurd Grünberger

Based out of Copenhagen, Sigurd Grünberger is slowly making a name for himself in the fashion photography business. After shooting one great story after another, he might seem to have done this for a lifetime, but photography actually came to Sigurd by chance: “- At age 19 I got a job in a photographic shop and that started me off.” Now he’s been published in magazines throughout Europe, including shooting the cover of the latest Elle Denmark.

He says he’s inspired by the works of other photographers and the people surrounding him: “- I’m also inspired by the fact that there so many beautiful pictures out there just waiting to be snapped!”

8. Jeremy Dower

It’s a wild guess but Jeremy Dower might be a fan of two things, dogs and shrooms (or LSD). I could be wrong but judging by his extremely trippy dog paintings I would say I have a possible shot at being right on the money.

9. Kyung Woo Han - Green House

Kyung Woo Han received a BFA in sculpture from Seoul National University in South Korea, and an MFA in Film,Video and New Media from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was recently chosen for AIM artist in Bronx Museum (2008), and awarded a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Residency (2007). He also won a Visual Arts Award from AHL foundation (2007), and Rockefeller Brothers Fund from Asian Cultural Council (2006). Han’s work has been exhibited widely throughout the United States and South Korea. He has exhibited his work at the Bronx Museum, White Box, Smith College Museum, Gallery Two, LG space, Seoul Arts Center and GANA Art Center in Seoul Korea. He is now living and working in Brooklyn, NY.

All the facts are relevant. People see what they want to see. One fact can be interpreted in several ways depend on our perceptions. In the opposite, two different facts can be looked the same. My work deals with perception and illusions. Everything we see or what we know is not absolute. I suggest various ways to perceive things with slightly different perspectives.

I use surveillance cameras to mimic people’s eyes. The image that is captured in the video camera is very narrow and direct. The information that is given to us is limited. It is impossible to see beyond the rectangular frame. I’m using this weak point as a crucial system of my work.
