4. Frederique Daubal
This unsettling art project by French artist and Hint friend Frederique Daubal. For her Hide and Seek photographic series, Frederique cut out pages from fashion magazines, sliced them into fringe and made them into masks resembling Muslim niqābs. It's a statement on identity, transformation and what it means to be Frenchtoday. She's looking for a gallery space to exhibit the photographs, so if you know of one, here's your chance to support the arts! by Hintmag
About Frederique Daubal:
After being a foreigner in different countries, mainly Montreal and The Nederlands, Frédérique Daubal is now biking in Paris. Coming from a graphic design background, she also experiments with textile as a 3 dimensional medium, or creates clothes under her name, without following any trends but using lots of second hand pieces since the beginning in 2001. She works as a freelance creative for clients worlwide, Nike, Paul Smith, Nokia, Publicis, Bumble&Bumble... and sell punctually her own products in place as Beams, Colette... or during some ephemeral events. Daubal constantly collaborates with people and magazines mostly for experimental ideas, installation or exhibitions. Her website is one window for her work, and where to buy her unique pieces.
