1. I'm Here - A Love Story in an absolut World

Director Spike Jonze has dabbled in music videos, feature films, and movie shorts, some of which will be showcased at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. His latest short is entitled, I’m Here and will debut this evening at the event. A trailer has coincidentally appeared online for the film that features a few robot looking creatures as its main characters. Hey it’s Spike Jonze, he thinks outside the box…

I’m Here is a 30 minute short, that stars British actor Andrew Garfield, who was previously seen in The Imaginarium of Doctor Paranssus and will be appearing in the upcoming film, The Social Network. Here he plays the main character who looks to live in a world where everyone has body parts similar to a PC. The story is supposed to be about finding love in an “absolut world.” Yes, I spelled absolute without the “e”, because it’s a reference to Absolut Vodka, the company that funded the project.

Aside from Garfield, actress Sienna Guillory also stars in the film, and I’m assuming she’s the love interest. If her name sounds familiar it’s probably because she played the role of Jill Valentine in the action flick, Resident Evil: Apocalypse. This is definitely a big change of pace from that movie.

2. Gilles Et Dada

GILLESETDADA is a nonsense art fashionbrand for men and women.

“ Gilles et Dada is a state of mind. That is why it transforms itself according to moments and events. Gilles et Dada applies itself to everything, and yet it is nothing, it is the point where the yes and the no and all the opposites meet, not solemnly in the castles of human philosophies, but very simply at street corners, like dogs and grasshoppers.

Like everything in life, Gilles et Dada is useless.
Gilles et Dada is without pretension, as life should be.
And yet we still have our dreams. “

9. Ruben Brulat

Magazine says :
by Nancy Aslop.

"Ruben Brulat bought his first camera just two years ago. But in spite of this relatively late start, something just clicked. ‘I discovered my real passion, and I have not stopped since. I went out all night long, experimenting. I needed to do it – it quickly became something vital for me and I could not stop taking photographs.’

For Brulat, photography is about capturing humanity – as was evidenced by Immaculate, his series of images of a business area both by day and by night. ‘I want to understand why people groups and societies behave the way they do.

What shocked me with Immaculate was that this neighbourhood lived just for a system, and when at night there is no one to activate that system, it dies. There is absolutely no love, no happiness, no sadness. Just nothing.

I am fascinated by places where the beauty of human beings has gone.’

It makes sense then that Brulat is currently focusing his attentions on a new series of photographs for 2010 about the human in the environment, depicting ‘the vulnerability and the smallness of our species.’ In ten years time, he hopes to have brought both happiness and sadness to people via his work, but most of all hopes that not all his expectations will come to fruition.

‘Otherwise, in a way, it will be really boring!’ And that’s one adjective we would not associate with Brulat."

10. Logorama

H5: logorama logorama is a short film by the french collective H5, which visualizes and explores the way that logos are increasingly embedded in our existence. after winning the kodak prix at the cannes film festival this year logorama is being screened at various international locations in the coming months.

'logorama presents us with an over-marketed world built only from logos and real trademarks that are destroyed by a series of natural disasters (beginning with a hurricane, cyclone, tidal wave...). logotypes are used to describe an alarming universe (similar to the one that we are living in) with all the graphic signs that accompany us everyday in our lives. this over-organized universe is violently transformed by the cataclysm becoming fantastic and absurd. it shows the victory of the creative against the rational, where nature and human fantasy triumph.'

Directed by: H5
Sound: Human
